smog pump

dose a 83 have a smog pump? my has somthing that looks like on and its not air conditioned? can i simply just take off the pump and components and have it run fine or is it totaly nessisary to have?

A smog pump is mearly emmition related... it can run fine (if not better) without one but you wont pass smog.

why what about it cant u get off. the pump or all the ***** that goes to it?

haha all i cant get off is the pump. the rest of that **** is gone already from when i put headers on. i stripped one of the torx bit bolts and dont feel like doing a lot of work to get it out lol

Yeah, 83's have AIR pumps. Strictly emissions. I lost mine awhile ago, don't know what happened to it....

Wrong, you will pass emissions as long as they dont do a visual. If they just do sniffer you will pass. I know because my car passed the sniffer with no smog pump.
