Which thermostat

I'm considering getting a new thermostat for my 3.8, but I don't know which to get the 160 or the 180. Does anyone have any input on this subject?

I have a 160. When I bought it, I didnt even know they made a 180. What is better? I have no idea.

I say go for a 160 if you are going to get the computer tuned for it. If you are not getting a tune then stay stock.

Never mind then, I didn't realize that I'd need a tune for it to work. I can't justify getting a tune for a 15 dollar part. Thanks guys.

well it usually works the other way around. once you get a tune, the tuning company will recommend a 160 stat.

and the difference of a 160 to a 180, its just the temperature at which the stat opens. so a 160 obviously runs the engine cooler. you might be okay running a 180 without a tune, because a 160 is just too cool for stock ECU...

but really, i dont think a stat is worth anything, even with a tune.

You don't need a tune for the 160* thermo....when you get a tune they can change your fan settings to lower, but you can easily run a 160* thermo in your car without problems
