Well considering the grand am is front wheel drive and f-bodies are rear it would take quite a bit of modifying. If you want the SLP sound just buy the muffler and have a place bend up the rest of your exhaust for you.

I could probably just buy the cheapest exhaust system and replace the muffler with the one from the SLP exhaust. Would that work?

Yes- worst case is you would need to adapt a couple pieces but that would be simple for just about any exhaust shop.

My exhaust sound like its farting, or like a Honda Civic. How can I get a deeper or quieter sound for my car?

put a good muffler on that is the proper size, usually that is caused by a glasspack muffler with a huge pipe
