weird grinding

dude the grinding could very well be your syncros in your transmission going out.
That would totally explain the difficulty for getting it into a gear.
Does it do it more in between sertain gears? (N-1 or 1-2 or 2-3 etc.)

very slightly in all gears, but since i bled it its much less noticeable.

that's why I think clutch related, if it was synchros that wouldn't have done a thing for it

Yeah it would...If the synchros were bad, he would have a hard time getting it both into a gear and/or shifting into a new gear. He had said that he wasnt able to put it into gear so that could very well be an issue.
