Question whats a good exhaust/muffler for a 1st gen?

Whats a good muffler for a 1st gen? I want it to be deep and loud, something that would wake the neighbors up, but its gotta be legal. Im leaning toward flowmaster original 40 series, or flowmaster super 40's series, ive also thought about glasspacks but i dont know to much about those and what they sound like. Thanks

I have been seeing alot of old school muscle cars sounding very good with Borla exhaust. If I ever get a 1st Gen, it will have either a chambered exhaust like my current set-up or I will put on a straight through Borla system.

Hmm chambered mufflers sound good on the older cars, a buddy of mine has a 69 camaro with flowmaster 40s on it and it soulds real good, i love the sound of them. The flowmaster cat-back sounded like **** on my car when i had it but on the older cars i love the sound.

yea flowmaster 40s sound good with headers and no cats.

FYI tho, my dad got a Jegs header back true dual system for his 69 for, crap i forgot, it was like 200 bucks or something tho. fits pretty well and was a great deal. its the Jegs brand. he got 2.5" with mufflers and all that. sounds pretty nice.

Chambered all the way on older cars. Sound can't be beat!

I had headers through flowmaster 50 series deltaflow on my 72 Chevelle with a 400ci, and it sounded baaad. Not quite as mean as my friends 72 chevelle with a 350ci with headers through the louder flowmaster 40's. That thing just about set off car alarms at idle. Definitly bad ***.
