LT4's r quite a bit more powerful actually...they made 345HP stock...

as for the LS1..ALL 01 and 02 f-bodies recieved LS6 blocks and Intake Manifolds....heads r not the same nor is the cam....98 being the odd ball LS1 it had bigger injectors than all the other years and on a well tuned one will handle a 200dry shot of nitrous all day long....

The Gen III SBC's r technical marvels...

So is there a big difference between the LS1 and the LT4 ? or are they similar?

Completely different...

the only things they have in common is there both fuel injected pushrod'd small block chevy V8's...of different generations though..

the allmighty SBC is Generation 1, the LT1/LT4 is Generation 2, and the LS1/LS2/LS6/LS7 is Generation 3...

The LS1 is 346Cu. inches, is ALL ALUMINUM and has a bore design on a small block...all geberation III small blocks are completely interchangeable...

from the all iron 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0L's used in other trucks and SUV's etc...every part is swappable..

wanna make a REAL strong monster?? grab a 6.0L block (which just about ALL of them came with LS6 heads!! and just swap the cam and put the LS6 intake on it, and uve got close to 500HP just using stock parts...)

Anyways...ya..

anything else u wanna know just ask...

Dude your way off only like 25% of 02 received the LS6 block, even less in 01.

All 01-02 came with LS6 intake.

Also not to be argumentative but I thought LS2/LS7 were officially Gen IV ??

im not way off....maybe not ALL but a good portion of them did...go check it out on www.ls1tech.com...

and the ls2/ls7 r not gen IV...as parts r interchangeable between the LS1 and LS2 and LS6 and LS7 still...same design....but i guess u could say there more like an unofficial Gen IV SBC...just a revised/updated version....

2001

1. A small percentage of 2001 and 2002 LS1s actually had LS6 blocks which had a different part number and a darker metal cast
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showpo...80&postcount=2

15% of 01s and 25% of 02's got the LS6 Block.
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showpo...86&postcount=8

I took your advice dude :-)

They used this motor in the Buick roadmaster, the differences was, the ECM, cam and fuel injectors. you can take all that other crap and throw it on a block from 1968 and vise versa. If you also check back in the 60', they did have an aluminium block in the corvettes.
No worries man, ur not disapointing anyone here except yourself and the whole chevy community if u think ur knowledgable when it comes too new age GM cars...

If you really think an LS1 or Gen 3 small block chevy is for one a 350 and for 2 interchangable in any way with any other SBC in ANYYYY way give ur head a shake, do sum reasearch and than retract ur statement...

1) The LS1 is the engine suffix code for the 346 Cu. 5.7L All Aluminum Generation III Small Block Chevy, found in ONLY 1997 - 2004 non Z06 Corvette's and 1998 - 2002 Camaro Z28/SS's & Formula Firebirds/Trans-Am's/Trans-Am WS6's
2) The Generation III SBC including the all aluminum LS1 is the latest and greatest push-rod V8 ever produced, PERIOD.
3) The Gen. III's SBC shares NOTHING in common with ANY other small block chevy other than the fact that its of a push-rod design. Gen. II (LT1/LT4) DOES share things with the first generation of small block chevy's...same Cubes/displacement, its the same blocks really, but the heads are different design and as far as i know they r reverse cooling flow and different intake setup and e-managemebt compared to Gen. I say the ever so popular L98 TPI.

Here's some good reading for u......

If u wanna doubt the credibility check out the webaddress That not only includes the LS1 but the new LS2 aswell..which is a revised Gen. III that GM calls a Gen. IV...

Read it, dont think u already know everything there is to know man...i still cant believe u think the LS1 is the same since the original 350...

Infact technically speaking the LS1 is a 5.6L engine but SOLEY for marketing reasons they displayed it as a 5.7L and in the small fine print ull see a 346Cu. figure...therefore its not a 350...

a 350 is a 4.000" Bore with a 3.480" Stroke....thats Gen I & II...

LS1 is 3.900" Bore and 3.620" Stroke i believe....as for the aluminum corvette small blocks...yes, im very aware they existed...there still built off the original design though...

GM took there knowledge of V8's and wanted to make a more powerful, lighter, even MORE reliable, much improved gas mileage and a HUGE improvement in emissions with the Generation III SBC Design...and they did that and passed with FLYING colours...

There u go...I really do hope u read that article...or anyone else who never knew this stuff too for that matter...

Even if you could find two X1800XT's it would still only be $749 per video card. You don't have a $5000 computer, if you did, you paid too much. I can build a SLi 7800GTX powered rig for around half of that.

get a life

I can't believe you guys are arguing over this stupid stuff. There are 3 types of people on this board. Mullet boy rednecks, Vin Diesel ricers and normal people who like all cars. The first two groups need to get a life and a girlfriend get laid and stop arguing over this stuff.
