Other than about 400cc and about 60 horse, not much...but when you have something only weighs 380lbs, 60 horse is a lot...

I've worked at a Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda Bike shop and I was able to ride all of the bikes... I had a '94 750 Gixxer that I started out on. That was a good enough ride for me a couple of years ago. I thought it had plenty of power and speed. Then I got to ride the 600's, they all had plenty if not too much power for a beginner rider. The liter bikes are way out of the question!! That much power is simply meant for the race track. The honda cbr1000rr has retarded power, I shifted out of 1st gear at 87 mph with it and then managed to pull the front end off the ground. Too much power for anyone other than the professionals... You can buy one if you can afford it, the high a$$ insurance, and if you don't ride it, so you can tell your friends that you have one. If you think a 600 wont satisfy you in a couple of years, take everyone elses advice and just live with it so you can gain the valuble knowledge of how to ride and respect the bike before you go bigger. Just my two cents.

my dads friend has a CBR1100. that thing is crazy. kinda too much. most of those 1000+ bikes run like 10s in 1/4 mile stock.
