No, its stick. It doesn't like to be shifted fast, its like its a lock out on it. if you do a slower shift, it works fine. The tranny dosn't use cables, 2 rod from the shifter. The clutch is cable and its fine.

2nd gens "88-'94" (but my fav - '88-90) are of a different breed than the newer 3rd gens. Especially the small gropu of my friends that drive them as well. My car is not heavy, it is 2359 lbs stock, and it is not slow. We've had it since new and it has always been very reliable and easy and cheap to repair. I have had a few different powertrain setsup in it from the original 2.0 auto which brought me to 300,000km's without any problems but right now here is a picture of my motor in my "slow, ugly, heavy" car
[IMG][/IMG]
Unfortunately yes, a lot of kids do drive them especially newer 3rd gens and i've seem quite the share of some nastily done up ones

Anyways, the cavalier is a great car when you want something new but don't have the money. Go to repo depot, about 80% of the cars there are cavaliers. you can easily go there and just buy one for probably $2000. There's way too many cavaliers.

A 2000 Cavalier, well even that is a far stretch, although its likely to happen within the next few years...its not just cavaliers, Neons, Civics, Sentra's, ALL ENTRY LEVEL VEHICLES.
You people need to get the grasp of this, if your buying an entry level vehicle, DO NOT expect to get a good resale value...it doesnt happen...
As for all domestics having poor resale value, thats a joke and a half...
Look on the auto trader...2002 Camaro SS 6-spd LS1 anniverary edition car going for $49,000....They didnt cost that much brand new...Anyways u get the ideas, it all depends on the line of cars and what-not.
If you think ur civics and neons and hyundai's and kia's are gonna be worth-a-damn anymore than other entry level cars give ur head a shake....there job is to get good gas mileage...i cant speak for the kias or hyundai's that blow blue smoke from the factory but i know the neon civic and cavalier do a good job at what there supposed to do, be cheap reliable a-b transportation...end-of-story...
Case closed.

just go get a cavy or fire then drop in the new 2.4L ecotec 170hp & 170 lb.-ft then if u wanna mod that then go for it that engine should give u nice results
