try talking to the building super/maintenace/owner about the issue, you could even launch a complaint against the building with whom ever oversees such issues for the city you're in.
btw.. I love a good hot curry/vindaloo but couldn't stand living with the smell of it day in, day out.

I like curry as well but my stomach cant handle spicy foods all the time . Luckily for me , when my mom cooks it, she opens all the windows and turns on the fan thats over the stove to get the smell out of the house so doesnt smell at all.

agreed, I hve had a couple of indians move into my building recently. Sometimes I open the door like a punch in the face I step back reeling yet all I lose for by now it has penetrated my own home, so then I run like the wind before utter suffocation.

I can imagine how curry eaters would drool over dog diareea . I'm sure if they'd taste it , they'd prolly love it too . That would solve quite a few of my problems , my hallway won't stink anymore , AND I wouldn't have to pickup after my dog . OF course it would be a problem for the poor anymal because producing curry from your *** , burns .

however the same nature allowed us human beeings to evolve from dirty naked s running arround the forrest , and eating dirty food with our hands , into a civilised society where most of us take the necessary precaution not to stink up their enviroenment making evevryone else sick arround them .
now if u like curry and u were born in a hospital that smelt like curry , from a doctor that smelt like curry and raised on curry , it's probably IMPOSSIBLE for you to understand how repulsive the smell is to the rest of us . So do this experiment , lock yourself up in a dirty public toilet and take a few deep breaths ... THAT'S HOW SOME OF US FEEL WHEN SMELLING CURRY . and yes of course , if you stay locked up there for a few days , u won't smell anything at all . that doesn't mean others won't want to vomit their intestines when joining you ... just like me when i smell it on my hallway

About the improper maintenance . I'm sure it would help , but I think the curry itself is unlike any other smell ... well maybe skunk smell is just as persistant . Because my culture has some smelly foods also , but whenever I'm somewhere where someone cooks it , it smells for an hour or two , not for the entire day . At the same time , do you have ANY CLUE how it is riding an elevator for 19 floors with a family of 7 all smelling like curry ? ? ? I thought MY NOSE is gonna fall off ... I wonder what needed better maintenance in that case .

also the stairwells are to be positively pressurized over the hallways so that any smoke in the event of a fire doesn't enter the stairwell. (doesn't relate the thread, but good to know anyway)

It is with IMMENSE joy that I am here today , to let you know , that my smelly neighbours moved .
The new chinese neighbours moved in 3 days ago . The poor guys have had the door to their appartment WIDE open for the past 3 days , so that the smell of could go away . The hallway reek , reached it's maximum yesterday , because of this , but I can't complain as I am a very understanding neighbour . I hope they survive theese hard days . The next week will be crucial .
