DVD Burner

Now that I'm making these video's I really want to be able to put them on a DVD. My current desktop has a CD rewritable drive and a seperate DVD player drive. I'd like to put in a DVD burner but I haven't kept up on them at all. What's a good one that won't cost a lot?

I got a liteon at wal mart that has worked decent (if I record at high speed it won't play in my philips recorder)they are all made by pioneer or panasonic from what I've researched.I would get a dual layer, and if possible a universal (makes it alot easier to buy discs especially if they ever settle on a format)

cheapest I have available is a memorex that runs $99 16x and includes nero6 (great software) I also have apioneer that's $115 (probably just a little better quality since it's for them not a competitor)

I would suggest not getting a dual layered burner... yeah they are cheap right now, but have you taken a look at how much the disks cost? I just bought a burner last year for around $50, and they have gone down quite a bit since them.. Ive been wanting to get a dual layered burner, but then I took a look at how much the disks are, and I saw a 10 pack this past weekend for around $60... So honestly, youre better off getting a single layered burner... they are fairly decnet priced, and disks are a reasonable price for those

Yeah, in any case you can replace your CD burner with the DVD burner, most DVD burners will burn CDs too.

usually they are more expensive than that...

I think for Chads use for backing up videos, 4.7 gigs a dvd will do fine.. you can pick up a 25 pack for inbetween $15-25

For the most part yes 4.7 gigs is enough but not for all of them. I don't beleive in lowering the quality of the video's to help with download speed's or space so I use up a lot.
