Ethanol

Okay.. I was just talking to brian about this... You can go ANYWHERE on any day, and find a negative article about bush.
Simple as that, I go to Yahoo.com and find this right off the bat: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060417/...isure_young_dc
I rest my case.

I will admit that some things that he did turned out to be more than what he bargained for. The 'War on Terror' turned out to be something that can't be won. I will admit that first thing. I serve in the Army and I can say that I am not looking forward for my turn in the sand, but its what I signed up for and I will do my duty gladly if need-be, but thats not the point here.
I understand that people don't like Bush, I don't have a problem with that. I guess I should have clarified- What I do have a problem with is people that know NOTHING about politics and only read a headline here and there and jump on the "I hate Bush, and he sucks blah blah.." bandwagon, which seems more and more like people are doing lately. Thats what burns me the most...

Anyway, back to the ethanol thing. I thought ethanol was supposed to be a cleaner fuel and that it was supposed to reduce the buildup in the fuel lines of the car. Also it would be easier to make because they use corn. When I was last in the states I stopped at a gas station that had 91 octane fuel with 10% ethanol for cheaper than 87 octane. Up here though the stations that only sell ethanol blended fuels are the same price as normal fuel.
Someone said something about it not being as good a lubricant, I thought fuel was a degreaser, whenever I got a ton of grease on my hands I washed them with gasoline, works way better than water, only downside is you stink after. Why would you need fuel to be a lubricant since your burning it?

The main problem with alternative fuels is that it takes time and money for them to be developed. And up until now, most people would rather stick with what worked, which was typical gasoline. But now since the big oil compaines see that people are willing to pay $3 a gallon they are jacking the prices to line their already thick pockets.
Ethanol has potential, it just needs more time and development to become an actual replacement.

This is what I really think is bull-****.
Gas goes up the highest its ever been here about 6 months ago.. like $3 a gallon, and it broke $3 for a little bit, and the reason for that was the hurricanes wiping out oil refineries, or whatever reason the goverment made up.
So now its hiking up to $3 again.. And I know theres no hurricanes hitting oil refineries, and I have heard no reason for gas going up. It really pisses me off. What the **** is going on... Im getting sick of our countrys bs lately.

It's simple supply and demand, fuel prices always go up in the spring/summer months because that's when everyone wants to go and drive places. It's not all Bush's fault either, gas prices are ludacris up here in Canada too, still not as bad as last summer yet. In Europe it's even worse than in North America, that's why most of the vehicles over there are diesel. A lot of the pricing does have to do with people panicing though, when the refineries were hit from Katrina everyone paniced because most of the U.S refining capabilities were hit but that is only a small fraction of what is produced in the middle east, in Saudi Arabia alone they produce billions of barrels of oil a day.
The war in Iraq isn't helping things because the fuel companies are all worried that if someone blows up a pipeline then there is going to be a fuel shortage so they have to make money now. Just know this, it's only going to get worse.
