Kids to drive

As a parent its something that worries me, I am not sure I would like them driving my own family car or the truck, let alone "my baby". Do we have any parents here willing to own up about letting their kids inside their "babys" or even if you were a teen that drove your parents? Would love some feedback here folks.

I can only tell you my experience. I had my driver's license the day after my birthday, and the wait was only because I turned 16 on a Sunday that year. I talked my parents into paying for me to take driving lessons, so I never even sat in a single Driver's Ed class in school. A few drives with an instructor, and that was it. Of course, Dad had let me drive a lot when I had my learner's permit (and before).

So, from that day of the license, I always drove their cars, all the time. However, I have always been very responsible. I have never been a drinker of alcoholic beverages, nor a smoker of anything, legal or otherwise. So, I may have been spoiled with the car, but I was a good kid.

I had the issue where my son was 'harassing' me to drive my 'baby'. Not so much the family car as MY BABY. I was having none of it and he seems to have given up asking.

I did the Driver's Ed stuff and I had older siblings (who while not smart, we did have fun). I remember steering before I could even drive (before I was like 10, from the passenger seat), not safe, not legal, but we did it.

I am not doing that with my kids, and I do not want to end being lucky to get my old dreamy car, rebuild it all and have my kid wreck it either.
