Looking for a bike..

So yea, as the title says, im looking to purchase a motorcycle. Since my commute to work is about 30 minutes, and my car gets horrid gas mileage, I figured this is a decent solution. I would prefer a 'crotch rocket' style. BUT - I am not looking for a race bike, or anything like that. Here is what im mostly looking for in a bike..

1. Cost
2. Gas mileage
3. Reliability
4. Parts cost

The cc's mean nothing to me, I just want a 'decent' looking bike, for as cheap as possible, with decent gas mileage.

Any recommendations?

FWIW, I really like the Yamaha FZ6. It's not as harsh and unforgiving as an R6/R1, power is nice and smooth, and the riding position won't give you lower back problems in 10 years.

You talking about your pimped out one? lol. Like I could afford it.

Im going to HAVE to do it in very small payments, I have no liquidatable assets right now to buy one straight up.

Dude bike loans are really cheap. Like $150 or less depending on your credit. And the insurance is like $25 a month.

Right there. Read that article. Those are all the awesome "naked" bikes, which are sport with no fairings, and sometimes said to have a muscle look.

Funny thing is, I started looking for either a SV650 or 599 a month or 2 ago and I think I might have one in the next week.

But anyway, the one I decided that was the best is the SV650. Read that article but I'll post an excerpt here:

Engine
Type: l-c 90-deg. V-twin
Displacement: 645cc
Compression ratio: 11.5:1
Transmission: 6-speed

Performance
Corrected 1/4 mile: 11.87 sec. @ 110.02 mph
0-60 mph: 3.65 sec.
0-100 mph: 9.94 sec.
Top-gear roll-on, 60-80 mph: 4.44 sec.
Fuel mileage (low/high/average): 38/44/41

I've heard the mileage being closer to 50 also. Best parts are that it has a V-twin engine, quarter mile under 12, gas mileage, and looks pretty cool. Oh and I forgot the best part, they are cheap.

If you would rather have a full on sport bike, you can find a YZF-600 for pretty cheap on ebay or something.

I almost bout a bike a few weeks ago but went against it since fall/winter is coming up. It was a 2004 honda cbr600 F4I, I took it for a ride and it was more than enough for me, They look pretty sweet too.

Haha, yeah I like all three of the bikes but aesthetically the 599 and sv650 do it for me. I like the naked look. I did see a gorgeous FZ1000 sittin outside the local grocery store and I almost shat myself it was so cool. And I'm still a fan of V-Twins... packing the power in 2 big cylinders instead of inline 4. Heard they are much easier to work on too. I'm gonna have a big cruiser when I get old and rich, so im getting ready for it with the v-twin.

and phate, all the bikes I listed are REALLY good bikes and cheap if your looking to get a 2000-2003 or something. Try locally, craigslist, and ebay.
