hey im not for or against... but here is what i believe. I believe what they are doing is ok if its for survival. but i've seen some footage of them "looting" a 52 inch plasma tv on cnn... im sure you need that if you live in toronto but during a hurricane?

they now say on the news police have had to stop searching for survivors and the dead, and now deal with the looters. so for everyone saying its ok to loot/ its for survival, thats bs. because of the looters, there will be even more deaths.

this is pretty mess'd up.

my biggest question is, why didn't those people leave when evacuation notice was given??? I understand that many may not have anywhere to go, but they can easily go out of state. In those situation, I'd grab whatever I have and take my family out of there and go to anywhere. It just really confuse me.

No one is surprised that there is looting. The people have been trapped there for a week, and have to eat something. It's the government's responsibility, IMO, to get these people out of there, and or fed. Until then it's going to be survival of the fittest, or the best outfitted. And there's nothing anyone can do about it. A lot of older and sick people are going to die, and again, there's nothing anyone can do about it. There has to be priorities, and a 90 year old couple are going to be left, instead of a young couple with small kids. If I were the older person, I would accept it. CNN has been glorifying the whole scene. That woman that is on there just kept asking about bodies. What don't you see enough death dumbass? Save the people that can be saved, and the ones that can't be, well there's nothing you can do. You can only move so many people at once. And then you've got to put them somewhere. Anyone surprised at looting, well wake up. If you don't agree with it, try living it. What would you do to feed your family? Me I'd loot to feed my family. PERIOD.

I duno man this whole situation is sketchy. I heard the whole speech from the Mayor and it was actually touching I felt sorry for the man, as he was doing everything to save everyone, even those that were exploiting the system by looting. He even said that many of the drug addicts, were looting drugs, because they needed to help their cravings for alcohol, crack or whatever it may be. That is truely sad, because its honest. To me it seems like everytime a situation where the "blacks" are going through some difficulty, its automatically proclaimed "racism" and discrimination. Its getting a little bit pathetic, lets not forget that 30% of New Orleans are white/hispanic/other. And that picture with the two white people "finding" the groceries is a extreme play of words. If you look at all those photos they use many different words for looting. As for only showing black people as looting as Kanye Piece of West said. Remember 70% of the people in New Orleans ARE black, so the majority of people having their photos taken while stealing WOULD BE BLACK! Heres one with a white dude looting. And, as far as the term "looting" goes, I personally don't think taking food and drinks to survive is qualified as that. What I did see in these photos were tons of KIDS, as well as older parents with shopping carts full of NECESSITIES?? footballs, tv's, microwaves, Marshal Faulk jerseys, tons of clothing. Now I can't really cut these people up because they are in extreme situations where they have lost all that they have, and possibly their life, but stealing is stealing, take what you need to survive.
