hahaha. viper turns like a dump truck? that is more than amusing. my neighbor's viper handles quite like its on rails, and will wager that it will out turn, out handle, and out accelerate the vette at any given time. (stock 1997 with exhaust, and intake)

listen to the people who race them and first thing they do is change the suspension. Some sports cars Porche 911 BMW M3 can't think of any others off the top of my head, but those are the main ones that are used

if you want to believe that fine, but the viper is known to overstear especially the older ones, go to a road course and see how they drive (I lived about 20 minutes from road atlanta and learned alot from the guys racing there)

I have to agree with Arch on the Viper thing. It seems the older Vipers are quick in the strights but lack the ability to corner quite as well as some of the other cars on the road. Throw a ZO6 against a Viper in a auto X with sharp turns and odds are the ZO6 will come out on top most of the time.

From experience, Porsche and German engineering is totally redundant and much more archaicly designed than any American car I've ever driven. I'd much rather tear into my Camaro than my dad's 944 any day. Hell, even something as simple as the thermostat... Just to get to the thermostat in a 944, you have to remove the headlight motor, tons of hoses, and some other stuff (it was awhile ago, but I can ask my dad again what all we removed if someone really wants to know that bad lol), just to get to the tube the thermostat is located in. Then, we find out the thermostat is located inside of a housing that is pointed down (in other words, you can't see the thermostat even if you're under the car because of other stuff being in the way; my dad had to use multiple adjustable mirrors just to be able to even see the thermostat) then we find out there's a C-clip infront of the thermostat that someone so nicely broke one of the ends off of, a simple project turned into a one week project, tons of frustration, and resulted in having to buy huge angled long nose pliers just to access the thermostat and remove it.

I also think I understand where Steve's coming with this one. While the Porsche 911 and the BMWs are high priced, you don't have to go changing the suspension to have it handle well. My dad's 944 can COMFORTABLY take a right or left turn at 40-45 mph and not skid, sway, or make you feel like you're going to roll. Again, this I know from experience in driving the 944 myself.

An 87 944 (4 banger) porsche only costs 2500 off ebay, atleast that's what my dad got it for. Excellent deal, the previous owners had a receipt from every single thing done to it. All the maintenance work had been done (pulleys replaced, and some other stuff that I never really paid attention to but my dad always says needs to be changed around 100k) and the interior is immaculate.

Okay, so even though the only difference between a Z06 and my car is the roof, mine is still put together cheaply?

I can more than compete with any car that its put against.

You have obviously never been inside a Vette if you call it cheaply put together and archaicly designed...

X2 thank you... yes inside there the exact same as a z06 "oops my bad the gauge overlays are a little diff." but yes there the exact same car.. with a diff roof... and a little diff suspension, and the motor ofcourse,... but as far as everything else it think there the same....

the c5 was considered cheaply put together on teh interior this is from automobile magazine on the z51 "In the Corvette, your posterior cuddles up to the rear axle. The mood is darker because of thick pillars and a rear window so nearly horizontal that moisture or dust turns it opaque. The cut and quality of the trim are better than the C5's but still closer to Cobalt than Cadillac in the GM hierarchy. Seats lack the plug-and-play feel of Porsche buckets. Side bolsters are too softly padded and too roundly contoured to secure you laterally."

one big thing I see in every review of the c5 is get rid of the run flat tires if you plan on any performance driving they seem to be a big limiting factor

I have been inside C5's before and the inside of the car is not bad but nothing to bust a nut over.
