A site to make a few people mad

Pay sucks, no matter what rank you are. The tax free thing is a little ridiculous at times, but the civilian contractors get the same break, so what's the big deal?

It's hard for me to get mad at this dude. He obviously has no idea what we do on a day to day basis. Granted, we all sign up on our free will, we did not sign the contract to die. If that were the case, I would have put a bullet in my head and saved myself the aggrivation a long time ago.
I stopped reading his website, because his homepage pretty much spelled everything out. He hates the military because we make more money than him. We do make quite a bit for what we do, especially overseas. I'll try to dig up a LES to show you guys what we actually make.

Don't forget the military pays for food and board while your on active duty as well. Most of the people I know in the military make a good living and the ones who don't are usually bad with money to begin with.

they can eat at the mess hall or they get an allowance for meals (at least that's how it was) the allowance wasn't enough for me to eat on (neither was going to the mess hall though)

Can you believe this ******* said this? WOW!!! My nephew is over there!
Get your pitchforks guys!!
"Here's some entertainment: an injured American solider being prepared to be carried away like a total punk! So much for being tough! Well, if you're stupid enough to sign up for the military, you deserve the consequences. The only sad thing here is that we, the innocent American taxpayers, must now foot the bill for this (miserable excuse for a) man's poor choices and stupidity!"
LETS KILL THIS BASTARD.....TONIGHT!!!

Its not even worth gettin pissed over...this guy just sucks at life-thats all
Meiss- What you are seein on that pay scale is base pay minus all the other things that get thrown in there.
If you figure that you could technically live on base, and eat all your meals for free, the money isn't too bad. But anyone who has a halfway decent brain knows that you would be stupid to try and live off some of the things they try and pass off as food once and a while.
A couple years ago when we were gettin deployed he is approx what I was makin- (I think this was everything..and these are approx numbers)
E-4 pay- $1550
housing-$600
food/clothing-$300
I think there was another $200 in there for something but I can't remeber for sure- but either way is was right around $2500 a month. Yeah, thats only 30 grand a year, but keep in mind that I wasn't paying any money for my own food, insurances, gas and other stupid daily expenses that people have. When you take away some of your bigger bills, it doesn't look so bad does it? (If you can get over the fact that you might just need to shoot someone or get shot at-)

BAS (Food Allowance) was $268.00
BAH (Housing Allowance) is $1300.00 in Japan if you live off post, and $13.68 if you lived in base housing or the barracks.
$700.00 a month cost of living allowance (varies depending on which country you are stationed in)
Clothing is $300 a year, so that really can't be factored in.
$400.00 a month flight pay
$75.00 a month language pay
And when you are in a hostile fire zone you make an extra $225.00 a month, plus an additional $150 a month once you get back.
Not to mention when you are anywhere except your home station you get per diem (i.e. Iraq is $3.50 a day, Arizona was $228.00 a day)
Health Insurance/Dental Insurance was free, but car insurance, car payments, etc. you have to pay for out of your base pay.
There's lots of incentives out there, and you can make a decent living out of it if it is a career choice. For most of the younger troops though, they don't make close to half that.
The money that we make is 5% lower than most of our civilian counterparts, so in reality it isn't that much money. They are trying to make the military more of a job than it used to be. People need to survive and if they want it to continue to be an all volunteer force, they have to do something for retainability.
