NOVELTY pig calendars and toys have been banned from a council office — in case they offend Muslim staff.

Workers in the benefits department at Dudley Council, West Midlands, were told to remove or cover up all pig-related items, including toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

Bosses acted after a Muslim complained about pig-shaped stress relievers delivered to the council in the run-up to the Islamic festival of Ramadan.

Muslims are barred from eating pork in the Koran and consider pigs unclean.

Councillor Mahbubur Rahman, a practising Muslim, backed the ban. He said: “It’s a tolerance of people’s beliefs.”

Yeap, same here. Almost everywhere where there is muslim immigrants. I don't know what the hell is wrong, they get just as they want. exactly, you think if some of us canadians moved to a place where rammadan, ( just an example, could be china with chinese new year), they wouldn't celebrate it cuz we get offended?

If you go to canada, and pigs are not taboo there, then deal with it. I'm jewish, i eat pork tho, but i'm not offended by seeing shellfish or anything else that's considered bad.

if I go to china, i can't expect them to make concessions to me, I am the visitor, I am the one trying to intergrate into THEIR cultre, not the other way around. I don't celebrae xmas, but i sure as hell don't get offended when ppl who do wish me a merry xmas, I take it in the spirit it is intended.


we do too much for these ppl when we should be re-enforcing our own cultre. we need to establish to these ppl that if u come here, we don't necessarily believe the same things as you. our signs will not be in your language, our holidays are different. if you are agreeable to this, then come on in, but if not, don't bother.

The liberals easily cater to minorities and just forget about everyone else. They are doing there dammed best to wipe out christmas ,easter and everything else that has to do with christianity. Haveing said that I will expect all government offices to be open x-mas day ,easter and any other holiday.. I will also expect my mail delivered and be able to renew my lisence plates on good friday , xmas, and any other day. Think that will happen? no..

now that isn't cornered by muslims or anything. I worked xmas day, and new years and ppl called in like crazy ( i work at a rogers call centre) and even expected managers to be on duty. and they were as caucasian as the day is long.

they shouldn't wipe out those holidays. speaking as one person who could care less about easter, xmas and all those mainstream christian holidays, I think they are important to canada's population as a whole. if the immigrants don't like the holiday festivities, they do not have to participate, or they can do their own thing. sound good? don't take it away from the people here because new citizens aren't comfortable with it.

this is wut we do in canada. we do christmas, we like hockey, we say eh

I know a lot of new canadians who understand this and want nothing more than to contribute to our great country, not change it to resemble their place of origin. the understand this is a different country and THEY need to adapt to CANADA. props to them for doing so!

We all know 95% of refugee claims are false! Now why is it that these people go back to there country for a holiday??. For christ sake if your a refugee you wouldent want to go back to a country your running for your life from. The absolute worst for it are those filthy turks. God help europe if turkey is allowed into the EU. I fear for the mass flood of muslums into europe if this happens and so to speak my homeland of poland. For those of you who dont know what I am talking about they want to allow turkey into europe! They have no place at all being a part of europe..

2nd they are not european
