HP numbers don't define how good an engine is.

The k20 may not have 300 more hp than a b-series, its in the powerband and how it reacts to simple mods.

ENGINEERING

Something you wouldn't know about since you own a car that has about as much engineering as a model-t ford.

if there was a cheap kit to convert the 6spd k tranny to the b18c5, i'd do that swap, but since not, maybe a b18c1 in 90 cx hatch

The most balanced set up would be what the dozen or so engineers at Honda put in the car from factory. Makes sense doesn't it?? Most of the swaps are available from factory in other countries, Even the EF was available with a B16 from factory in Japan.
