I got a question, i got a samsung a640 phone im trying to unlock, is it possible to set the phone to pay as you go once its unlocked?

If its a GSM phone then yes you can put it on pay as you go.

For other types of phones im not sure...

Yes it can be put on a pay as you go plan, but it depends on the provider. Some Providers *Cough* Bell *Cough* put you through the wringer when you try to do it though, as they want you to buy Brand new "Bell" Hardware instead of using something that you already own, and works perfectly.

As long as its a GSM phone, aka to work with Rogers or Fido, then you can do whatever you want. If its for Bell or Telus (CDMA) then I dont think you can do that since they designate phones for different services
