How much for an 87GT?

Hey Guys,

I am just wondering what I am looking at paying for an 87GT or possibly an 86GT? Let me know how much you think I should be paying. I'v see cars range from $1500-$20,000. I would greatly appreciate it.

Jonathan.

It all depends on the condition of the cars. The 87GT is not going to be worth as much as the 86 Gt. I think a more realistic price range for those cars is 1500-7000g's

I asked this same question at *****.com and thats where I got the $2500-$20,000. I'm hoping to get an 87 GT Hatch for around $5000 that is in decent condition with minimal rust, and that is accident free. Thanks for your estimates guys.

You can find 90-93 GT's in that price range as well. Chances are that the 87-89 cars are probably rustier due to the extra few years they've been on the road. You can also find lots of good clean Stangs in the US for quite a bargain, if you're willing to fly down and drive back..... I've seen clean, rust free GT's go for $3000-7000 US and as long as you forward the ownership to the "Port of Entry" 72 hours in advance it's quite easy to bring a US car into Canada. Just give them 3 days notice, pay the taxes and bring her in and then get the car inspected and certified! That's what I might do for my next Stang.....

I've been thinking alot about buying a car from the US. I know a trucking company that will go and pick it up and deal with all the paper work. I really want a 1993 Cobra but everyone wants too much.

5.0L, stick, not sure of the KM, the odometer says 6900 but it doesn't have a big enough odometer to show 100K and up.

The top corners of the roof by the windshield are rotted, MAY need a fender and there's at least one hole in the floor. Otherwise the body is VERY VERY fixable.

Interior needs some work but nothing a few hundred bucks wont fix.

It's silver with the black stripping on the hood and grill. Black cloth interior and the 5.0L HO 4 valve.

I dunno, what else do you wanna know?

Sounds like a $500 special. I wouldnt pay more than that for it. If the windshield top is rotted, chances are the A pillars are rotted at the base and most likely just below the shock towers on the frame rail will be rotted too. Stay away, sounds like a bucket.

^ lol, funny you should say that cause that's exactly what he was asking....I'm gonna see if he'll take 3. I'm pretty good with body work so it'd be a fun project for me, the shock towers are good and the a-pillars are pretty solid, but could very well be rotted under the paint.

The torque boxes are good and the rear end seems pretty solid....minimal rust under the hood, normal stuff for a car that old, but definatly not rotted.

I desperatly wanna see the floor under the carpet but floors aren't hard to do.

It won't run because of the battery and both times I've been to see it we haven't been able to get it to run but I'm gonna take my Diehard with me next time and it'll run.

just out of curiosity what would one be looking at for one in near mint? There can't be too many 83's left, this is like the 3rd I've ever seen in Ontario.

Hey Guys Please Respond

I found an 8t GT Hatch and I was wondering what you guys think. The has about 272,000 KM. Here is the link for the car. I'm going to look at it tomorrow. http://hamilton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-under-5K-87-Mustang-GT-5-0L-5-SPD-W0QQAdIdZ15198193

I'm willing to bet that car was originally an LX. Also, the paint looks clean and pretty rust free. I'd check the fender and quarter panel lips for bondo, as I'm very sure it's got plenty of body filler in it with that kind of mileage on a Canadian car. Check the transmission for wear and consistency, keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge to see if it loses pressure under load..... it's far from accurate but if the level drops under load in 3rd or 4th gear then it's got well worn bearings. The price seems kind of high for a car with almost 300k, but if its clean and not filled with bondo then it might be worth it.

I'll keep all that in mind. I've also been looking at gettin a Mustang from the US. What would be the best way to do that? I've noticed that they are cheaper in the US.
