Review of 2002 Mustang GT
Car: 2002 Mustang GT
Part: VT stage 1 n/a cams
Pro's: great cams, nice idle, 25+ more hp, kept stock valve springs
Con's: need a tune to take full advantage and keep from stalling on occasion
Part: Nitto Drag radials
Pro's: great street tire, hooks way better than stock, descent in the rain, lasts a long time for a drag radial - have 10k miles on mine right now!
Con's: not as sticky as BFG's or Micky Thompsons
Part: Ford Motorsport 4.10 Gears
Pro's: awsome acceleration, especially 1st and 2nd gear, gas mileage barely changed, 5th gear is alot more usable now
Con's: gas mileage does get alittle lower on the highway, 1st gear traction is tough with stock tires
Part: Ford Motorsport 3.73 Gears
Pro's: better than stock, but a waste in my opinion... better get 4.10's at least or you'll be disappointed
Con's: not much better than stock, not worth changing to for most people.
Part: Strange 10-way adjustable front struts
Pro's: Awsome to be able to have a stock, drag, or road racing suspension with the twist of a dial, cheap - cost only $110 each from Jeg's. Got fox body struts since my car is lowered.
Con's: none that I could find.
Part: Steeda Sport springs
Pro's: Lowered car about an inch, stiffer handling but was still comfortable
Con's: not as low as I wanted it, swapped back out for fox body stock springs for better weight transfer at the track
Part: Mac ProChamber offroad mid-pipe
Pro's: noticable gain in performance, deep nice sounding mid-pipe
Con's: not as loud as most offroad h or x pipes... and I really prefer loud! a pro for some folks.
Part: Mac Longtubes
Pro's: noticably louder, great seat of the pants power increase, fit great
Con's: the coating on them suck, great price but they probably won't last but about 5 years before they need to be replaced.
Part: Steeda Triax shifter
Pro's: awsome feel, comfortable, 3rd gear is near impossible to miss, alot of confidence using this shifter, I've driven a Pro5.0 shifter in the same car and definately prefer the Triax
Con's: Handle not quite as short as a Pro5.0, haven't tried the new MGW. no real cons to me.
Part: Magnaflow cat-back
Pro's: probably the best power producing cat-back on the market, nice deep growl, awsome stainless steel quality and a great fit.
Con's: not much louder than stock... I'd rather give up a couple ponies and get something louder.
Part: Ford Racing 70mm throttle body
Pro's: Better than stock
Con's: Not much better than stock, shoulda went with another brand - the Ford unit is actually more like 68mm...
Part: Vortech SQ supercharger
Pro's: unbeatable performance, as reliable as stock, best purchase I ever made
Con's: expensive... but not when you compare what it would cost to make the horsepower that it does. Not much more power than stock up until you get over 3k rpms... then its a monster!
