c5 vs. LS1 F-Body

This is a bit of a stupid question but is there a big price difference on performance parts between an ls1 c5 and a ls1 f-body? By parts i mean bolt-ons, superchargers, engine internals, etc. I now they are both the same engine but just wondering if the vette name makes a huge difference or not.

There's a lot of little differences. As for power the GM claims the 'Vette makes 45 more hp but that's been proven to be a joke. I mean mine put down 323rwhp and 334rwtq with just an intake and exhaust. There's no way those mods added 60hp.

Accessories on a C5 are bolted to the engine in different spots than on an LS1 F-Body, which is why it's a little tricky to make an LS1 out of a Vette fit the F-Car engine bay without moving ****.

well what i'm curious is mainly how much more exspensive aftermarket performance parts are for a vette compared to an f-body.

packaging sucks in the vette (not that it was great on the f body)

The Vette is not the typical redneck drag car like the F-Body. The Vette was made to haul *** on a road course not the strip. Having all the torque in the world doesn't mean **** if you cannot control the car in a curve.

the answer is - vette prices are a lot more. Usually 4/3, but sometimes as much as twice the cost of f-body parts.

True, the fbody is just cheap hp while the Corvette has some class and better handling.

I'm working on the handling part though, I have my subframe connectors now and before to long I'd like to buy Strano sway bars.

I can vouch for the "having all the torque in the world doesn't mean **** if you cannot control the car in a curve" statement. I took my car to an auto-x recently, and even with the car lowered some, these 4.10 gears just put too much to the ground for a road course. I tried the whole course in 1st once, twice in 2nd, and once in 3rd and still had waaaay too much problem with the rear wanting to pass me.

that's becasue you have a drag race gear, go with a road course gear (usually around 2.73 or so) and you'd be amazed how much faster teh car actually goes. The 4th gen was the first f body that really went away from teh transam style racing design, the 3rd gen is supposed to handle better in stock trim (part of that is also weight, teh 4th gen is also the heaviest fbody)

It also seems that for some reason F-bodies are more acceptable to mods than Corvettes, thus, they gain more off the same mods...from what i've seen.

my dad agrees with that. He said his '87 IROC handled better than my '94 does. He sais it just felt like it hugging the ground better.
