You can't just lower an F-Body and expect it to handle like it's on rails. And those gears are not ideal for AutoX. You need to upgrade your suspension as a whole. Sway bars, shocks and springs, Subframe connectors, STB, hell, even your tires are a factor. For gears, I find 3.42s to be the optimal gear if you intend on going to AutoX, but still want to kick some *** on the drag strip.
The IROC/Z28s have always had more performance oriented suspension than their V6 counterparts. You put your dad in a Z28 of the same year as yours, and he'll agree that it handles better.
