Why don't you just get a weld-in cut-out with a manual cover. That way you can see what it sounds like- (more than likely crap- not a bash on your car- I'll be the first that I thought my car sounded like crap with the cut-out open) mostly it just gets loud and doesn't sound good IMO. You might make a couple more ponies but more than likely you are just going to make noise.
If you like the sound after that- then go out and pick up a QTP.

But I dont know how a v6 sounds with a cutout. I mean... I have alot of work done to my v6... but its still just a v6. I know what a cutout sounds like on a built ls1, I know its loud, I just want it for the few extra ponies, and I dont want the manual kind, i'd rather spend the money for the electric.

summit and jegs sell the decent ones, but I agree you don't gain much if any power (a couple of grand prixs made more power with mufflers than with cutouts, and it's pretty much the same engine)

the cutouts sound like crap on most 8's if you don't have a huge cam (which means no vaccuum) we had them on our drag car for different tracks (NHRA rules now require mufflers at most places) that was when using glasspack type mufflers, and there was a hp difference, we switched to a better muffler and the times were teh same, but the sound was better less popping sounding

most times ill like the sound of a good exhaust system much better on most engines, cause usually its so loud its annoying unless its like a built engine and a bad *** cam, i think it would probably sound like most things do on a 6 it would sounds decent at idle but raised the rpm it would sound like ****, i remember when my exhaust snapped after the car and it sounded cool at idle but anything above that i couldnt stand

or instead of buying a cutout at all just unhook your exhaust and see if you like how it sounds without a catback or cat or w/e you would put the cutout at. my car sounds like crap with my flowmaster cat back, with just the catback unhooked and with the cat still on, and with open headers. except for at idle. lol

Like I said, my car is just insanely loud with cut-out open- but I don't think it sounds that good even with the lopey cam in it. It sounds a lot better thru piping- gives the car tone...I can imagine an extremely loud V6 will only be even more annoying unless you love the V6 sound.

Well... I mean I do have a pretty nice cam for a 6'r... bigger than most.
CompCams GT2 Roller Cam 216/216 .317/.317 111dur, 507 lift
It wouldnt sound too bad. Only thing ive disliked since ive done it is the loudness of the valves, its annoying at times.
