F1 U.S. Grand Prix

This is ing bullshit. 6 ING CARS ON TRACK!!!?!??!?! I'm a Schumacher fan, but I don't want him to win like this. We will never see another U.S. Grand Prix after this. UNBELEIVABLE!!!??? Just because of tires?!?!? Let them ing stop then. Those grandstands are going to be empty by the end.

they won't have the event again, that was a joke look at the problems bridgestone was having early in the season...... them they should all have there championship points taken away, the FIA had a good point, the banking has been there for many years they are not going to change it because your tire potentially won't be as good .

Evenif they held another u.s. grand prix, no one would go. Di you see how fast the stands emptied? If the tire won't last, pit for tires. But yeah they should have just called the race. I was pissed when they started it with just 6 cars. And I'm a Schumaker fan. I just wanted to watch a good race, and we all got screwed by the FIA. Formula one is pretty much done in USA now. The Canadian GP is probably not far behind either. It could have been handled better and the problem handled in practise on thurs or fri. Why did they leave it until the weekend? Maybe Goodenow and Bettman are now in charge of car racing as well!

I'm disappointed in the fact that instead of letting his teammate pass, schumacher put him onto the grass (Just what I read)

Yeah Schumacher and Barrichello don't get along. Schumacher gets all the top line stuff and Barrichello gets the second string test equipemnt. At least that's the way its portayed. But when you watch them race in the rain, the real driver shows up in Schumacher, and it makes you wonder if Barrichello is just jealous of some of schumachers natural ability. But Schumahcer could have given him room today. There is tons of room to pass at that track, and he could have made the pass later, instead of throwing Barrichello's timing off and putting him in the grass.

schumacher doesnt HAVE any natural ability lol....where did his ability go during the race of champions..he got killed by a rookie!! its all car . put him in a different car, it wont be the same race. barichello is probably sick of seeing his team mate pushing him out of the way so schumacher can take even more of the spotlight. when barichello had to go onto the grass becasue of schumacher, it says alot. schumacher thinks its HIS team.

You guy's forget Schumacher won his First championship in a Benneton or a Renaut. He proved his worth Before Ferrari picked him up. Its his ability on top of the Team and the insane sponsor money which puts Ferrari on top. Or did put Ferrari on top should I say.

ok yes he HAD the skills required..but now i think he relies too much on technology to help him win.

Schumachers problem is that for the last 5 years he didn't have competition. Lets be honest, when he ran Benetton, he needed to drive. When he signed on with Ferarri, they had built a top car for the first time in 19 yearsd, and therefore hired a top driver. What they got was 5 years of absolute domination, before the rest of the teams caught up. The last 5 years Schumacher went out for Sunday drives, and made 60,000,000 per year. Now he has made his money so what the hell does he care. The chances of anyone ever beating 5 straight championships is remote, so he is driving out his contract. I've been a Schumacher fan since before Senna was killed, but now it's boring to watch...until this year. Now he needs to drive again, but has lost it. Raikonen is proving that. Alonso is proving that also. The Ferarri is not up to par with Renault, and there is nothing that they can do about it. So there is not going to be a 6th straight, and I'll be surprisedif there is another Grand Prix in North America after Sunday. In fact I'll be surprised if Michelin is still in Formula 1 after this year. I know I would lose my faith in my tires manufacturer of they couldn;t make a tire to stay together of 15 laps.

i think michelin's biggest mistake was being unable to predict how the tire would react in such a high speed corner entry...all the left front tires were getting cooked. a chicane was just an excuse, and the FIA knew it. you could always just begin braking a touch earlier..bridgestone stuck by it, their tire barly held it together. but regardless, we dont how hoe michelin would have held up--nobody is going to risk their lives in the hands of some engineer 250km away(head office)..i think michelin would had been ok if the engineers were able to predict their product better.

See that's the problem. Nobody wanted to slow down a little bit for that corner. The drivers on MIchelins would have gotten murder by the 6 Firestone tires if that had been the case and then everyone would be bitching about the fact that everyone with Firestone had had an unfair advantage. As it is what they did was kill their biggest race of the year. And likely Canada's as well.

yeah, but in michelin's defense, firestone knows something that they dont..apparently some testing was done earlier in the year on that track by firetone/bridgestone...michelin didnt know about it until the race...
so someone did their homework while the other went out to party. shitty deal.
im going back to cart...more agressive, more fun lol

But Michelin had just as much ability to build a good tire but didn't. Like you said they went partying. I guess that they thought the tire that they had been winning with all year was good enough, and just sat back and rode on it. And then this happens...I tell you the michelin tires on my van are going to replaced with firestone tires this fall. I hope someone from Michelin/uniroyal/bfgoodrich is reading this because I'm serious. My van has Michelin MX4's on it and I was going to buy another set, but not after that .

So, what exactly happened? I don't follow the races or anything. What happened with the tires?

Michelin pulled out of the race because they didn't do enough R&D to build a tire to stay together through the Indianapolis speedway corners. So what they tried to do was get the FIA to put a chicane in, to slow the cars through that area. When the FIA wouldn't do it, Michelin advised all of their teams not to run. This unfortunately was 14 out of 20 cars. And probably ended F1 in the U.S.
