SLP, I overheard rumors that GM lost a ******** of SLP's stripe kits that they had in a warehouse, which just added to the amount of money GM is in debt to people.

gm shouldn't ahve had any slp stuff, they didn't install it slp did (at least according to the modification paperwork that we had to check to make sure it was complete)all the slp cars are aftermarket conversions, and not considered a factory car (just like the yenko's were not factory cars)

Arch, sorry, berger camaro was a factory car, phase camaros were facotry cars, black hawks were factory cars, etc. Just because you didn't build them doesn't mean they weren't factory.

you're right, they shipped the car's to SLP who then took off the stock parts and then installed their own.

exactly, they are factory authorized, not built (just like there was no factory 3rd gen convertable only aftermarket, but the factory authorized the companies to do it, and offered it to the dealers) the berger cars were not a factory car (factory cars are available to order, the berger cars were only offered to a select few dealers.Gm did allow it and warrantied them, but stated they were not a factory car)

factory means from the factory. A non GM company doing the work is aftermarket

those are not all just factory cars. Maybe this will help you understand.

The Baldwin Chevrolet/ Motion Performance combine was one of a number of Chevy dealers that made special performance-oriented versions of the Camaro outside of the normal Chevrolet factory options. These cars were billed as "supercars", basically turnkey race prepared cars, invoiced as new and complete with warranty.

When the Central Office Production Order (COPO) came around, some of the options that orginally weren't factory became factory. But not all. Just like t-tops in the early Firebirds/Trans Am were not a factory option. If you ordered a car with them, they were sent to Hurst to be done. Towards the later years, it became a factory option to get the Fisher tops, but for the few years Hurst was left, that was an aftermarket option and was rare to see.

Nono, what I'm saying is that from what the guy said, GM had a warehouse where SLP was storing the stripe kits. At some point or another, the strip kits went missing, GM's fault. Dunno tho, that's just what I heard from a few people.

It was my understanding that SLP *was* based right here in Troy, Michigan. My friend that worked for SLP worked from that location, and he went on and on about all the stuff they did there. I've been to the building that they used to work out of, the back of the building still says "SLP Engineering, Inc." lol
