Force Fed, let me ask you this though. I know by far the duities of certain types of officers, city cops, state troopers, etc. But this was my situation about a year ago.
Friend of mine calls me crying, shes locked herself in the bathroom of her appartment where her boyfriend has been beating her with a curtain rod. You can hear him beating on the door. I call the cops right after I get off the phone, and jump in my car with a baseball bat. (Yes I know stupid stupid, but I was going on adrenaline) and was booking doing about 75 in a 45. State trooper flys behind me and throws on his lights, I pull over, and he starts to run the plates, I wave my hand out of the window and tell him to come over. Finally he comes over and I tell him what happened and ask him to follow me to the scene and he can give me a ticket there. He refused, told me to call the sheriffs dept (dumbass, I just told him I already did. Im really pissed now) and walked back to his car to check my plates (I guess) and 15 mins later gave me a speeding ticket. As soon as he got out of sight, I flew off again, speeding once again, and got there after the sherriffs had shown up and arrested him.
Now, I told the judge what happened, and he didnt care whatsoever. That was one of my major speeding tickets, im just glad I didnt get reckless endangerment on that one. I just dont understand SOME cops sometimes, I dont care if you want to give me the ticket, thats fine, just let me get where the hell I was going first because its damn important.
PS - She turned out okay, she had to goto the hospital because of a possible concussion but was fine. Hes now serving 6 yrs for armed robbery and assault with intent.

My friend used to have a 96 Z28,
I was with him on the car and he got upto 140mph but let go because he got scare...
Anyways, the car was all stock no exhaust no intake no nothing. So…if a stock LT1 goes over 130mph I guess an LS1 will have no problem with that.

Sorry Arch, but I have to ask. What would YOU have done then?
I have a very strong value of protecting my friends. I cant sit idle while it takes the police 20 mins to respond to a domestic disturbance call and she gets beaten to death.

While I do agree with what your saying Arch, about the gun, the situation, and everything else. The thought of myself not trying to do something, and her get killed or something equally as tragic, having that on my mind for the rest of my life. If I had to do it over again, i'd probally do the exact same thing.

I would have done what you did Phate. I agree, that I wouldnt just sit there if I had a friend getting almost beaten to death. I almost think its wrong that you told the cop the situation, and he refused to do anything about it. Arent they there to serve and PROTECT? Its wrong that you were speeding, but its more wrong that you told him someones life was in danger and he didnt do anything.

Well around here its rural enough that the state police and local municipalities all pretty use the same frequency so if it were around here he would have known about it. But yes- he should have at least made an effort to call and check out your story.
I personally probably wouldn't have given you the ticket, just a stern warning. Its a tough area because I know all you want to do is go in there and protect your friend- thats natural. But breaking other laws in the process doesn't make it right either. Depending on the situation, you actions and speech I would let you go to the general scene- but not to assist in the arrest- too much liability. As soon as the perp was in cuffs you would have been able to help her and comfort her.
I love citizen help, but sometimes people try too hard to help. I always hope that if someday I happen to come across some UFC fighter who doesn't want a ticket and I'm gettin my *** beat that someone would stop and help. But typically citizens are asked to stay out because if you were to go in there and crack him across the head with the baseball bat and subject him to brain damage, you are liable for that- leave that to the police.
I personally think you got a raw deal with both the ticket and the judge. Like I said, I would have given you some space because I understand and agree with friends come first and you want to protect them.

Phate, I'm with you too. I guess it depends on the distance from your friends house. If I knew i could get there by far faster than the cops, I would definately go save my helpless friend from being bloodied up, possibly dieing. No doubt. And yeah, the cop should have been happy to follow you to the house, because he would have given the ticket anyway. And if he thinks you would run, he would have your plates anyway, which would mean bigger ticket ... Yeah ... I'm with ya.
