actually the third gen camaro was fairly light the 4th gen is the heaviest camaro ever produced, also if his numbers are inaccurate so are yours because there is no standard for measurement and few are ever tested on teh same day at the same track with the same driver

I understand that, thats why I gave up on the argument, but for the most part, a 5.0 lx is faster than the 5.7 camaros from those years (with the exception of 1993)

You just took the furthest of the two extremes, and I'm trying to put it into perspective that they arent that far apart. I agree that ford has always had appeal for those reasons, one of the reasons I bought mine.
Granted the LS1 was one hell of an engine, but, before the introduction of the LS1, ford for the most part had no problem keeping up, and when the ls1 did debut, the 5 liter aftermarket was so big that most of the cars out there that people put some money into were up to speed anyway.

chevy is using the old pushrod design and making 500 hp on a naturally aspirated motor (LS7). where did ford ever do that? they waste all this money on these "high tech" motors and dont put anywhere near 500 hp naturally aspirated.
and LS1 is a 346...do the math: 346/61 = 5.67 which rounds to 5.7 so thats why its called that.
