alright this may seem frivelous(sp), but i've been thinking. if i were to save up 10 grand and slap that down as a down payment on an 07 z28 for about 27,000 the monthly payments would still be about 283 a month plus interest, and insurance on a 19 year old, even with a clean record, would probably be about 300 a month, easily. with 583 bucks and say 120 bucks for gas, i'm at 700 bucks a month! this will be hella hard to pay for and may not be worth it, because i'd have no mod money . we'll have to see when 07 comes around what i can do, but i was thinking of an alternative...

would it be smarter to simply use that 10 grand on an ls1 z28 or even ss? i could get one for probably less than 10 in 07. so no payments, and insurance would probably be no more than 200 a month, and gas probably the same, so thats 320 a month...easily doable and money for mods

so what do you guys think?

save you're money. you will definitely need it for something else in life more than a car. when you get older and more financially established, then get a car.

In the future...I'd say get a used LS1. That's my plan when my insurance breaks in a couple of years. I want to get a newer trans am(in addition to Mayhem, I'm not selling her)

i think you think too much about this stuff.lol just save up as much money as you can, spending maybe a little hear and there for your current car if you want, go to college and get a degree, get a badass job that you make a ton of money and then youll have money saved for a house/ whatever you want and then you wont be bummed about spending however much money because that will be pennies to you if you make alot. Thats gonna be my plan.lol

Definately tag the LS1. Keep in mind, with the mod money, you'll be rocking 07 Z28's I'm sure you could afford and SS easily for 10k in 2007.

thanks guys. i think the majorty decision is to get a used LS1. and that is true, they will be hella cheap soon, and i can go crazy tearing the block apart and boring and stroking it to a 427...theres my LS7 right there

and yeah an 07 would be badass, but its just going to be too expensive and i dont even know if i can get a loan yet. but matt the reason i'm thinking of this now is because i'm about to dumb a grand or so into porting and camming my engine. if i'm going to sell this car and buy an 07 then i'm not going to do all this work. but since i'm leaning towards an LS1 then i might keep Carmen and then it would be worth this money.
