i see what you mean. doing it this way is more complicated. they may as well make it OHC.

i think pushrod engines are proven and reliable why mess with it and make a OHC and possibly have it blow up in ur face, i think thats why GM hasnt really tried it and plus if they wanna stick with trying to make a retro muscle car OHC doesnt really fit, IMO

Point made, but if they are so concerned with retro muscle- why didn't they bring back the 'Z28' model designation?

The models IMO should have been RS, Z28, SS. With the RS being some kind of apperance package, Z28 being the V8 motor, SS having the big motor and the RS SS having it all...

But since I'm not in charge of GM I have no say..

I think it should be like the original, you could get any engine in the RS, the z28 was teh high output small block, and the ss was teh all out any v8 with good suspension (including a big block)

The LT4 in the ZR1 vette. Not sure if it is considered a big block though.

gm hasn't had a big block in the vette since I believe the early 70's (454 is the smallest one they make now)

part of it has to do with rpm's the dual cams work best at high rpm's and the bigger teh engine gets the lower teh usefull rpm range (as well as safe rpm range)gets

Thanks Tony- you answered before me

The LT4 was just a slightly moddified LT1. The LT5 was the DOHC engine. Really expensive to modify and get parts for..
