Holy shiznit in a biscuit. Something is really messed up here, BTW the 3.4 uses the same ignition as the LS1 right?

sorta. theyre both DIS, just that the LS1 uses coil-per-cylinder and both the 3.4 and 3.8 are twin tower coils.

anyway i took it out, it ran smoother than before, but still hesitates and misfires. i've been thinking about it, and since the 1 and 4 wires made the engine die, and those are on the same coil, that coil is probably bad. and since there was no voltage in the TPS, thats probably bad and that explains the hesitation

yes very simple and much cheaper than i was expecting. since there were a lotta mysterious electrical thingies goin wrong, i was fearing a new ECU...$250!

glad you found out what it is you think. When do you think you'll have it running right now?

it was simpler than i thought. the gapper i had was like a circle with different gaps around it and some tool at the end to bend the electrodes back and forth. it was simple.

anyway i went for a drive today and it drove nicely and was about as fast as before...yet it still misfired. i think since my plug wires are bad that could be causing the spark to arrive late or not at all. when my dad gets home i'll see if he can gimme a nice loan til i get my check next week...

now i just gotta figure out why my radiator cap was smokin when i got home
