why does everyone keep saying V8 insurance is so expensive. i pay 138 a month.

and they ARE gas guzzelers. who else can afford $50 a week? and stop trash talking the opti. ive owned 2 different LT1s in the past year and never had a problem. the LT1 is a strong motor. and its based off of a 50 year old design...how the hell is it expensive to fix? its as simple as you can get.

Price ranges are just like every other car- just like I said earlier. Camaro's have slightly higher retail than a car of same vintage/value. Its just like everything else. You can pay 15 grand for a 95Z with a ton of mods and in pristine condition to $1000 for a 95 V6 with 200,000 miles and in terrible condition.

Time to be honest here- you don't make any sense to me. You said that you don't like the looks of a 4th gen. You also said that 3rd gens are terrible in the snow. Well let me tell you- a 4th gen is no AWD Subaru either. What makes you think a 4th gen is any better in the snow?

If you are so worried about being able to go places in the snow, worried about gas prices, and worried about how easy to work on, worried about part prices, and worried about insurance- why not just get a little foreign FWD drive car to drive for the winter? You can get a mid 90's Jap car thats in pretty good condition for $2000. So now you don't have to worry about traction, mileage, insurance and working on them.

Yeah- thats right I said get a Honda. Anyone who wants to flame me for it can suck it. Just because its a Honda, doesn't make it a ricer. Same as just because someone drives a 3rd gen, doesn't mean they have a mullet and live in a trailer park does it?

For someone who is limited on cash and is looking for a reliable DD while they work on their project- Japan does have some nice cars to offer-

Amen Force Fed. I personally will be owning a Honda Accord or something similar as my DD soon as I find a good deal, you cant kill a honda, and damn are they easy to work on.

I agree, why would you get a camaro as a non modded DD if you are worried about all the things you say? Just get a foreign cheap DD and buy another car later as your "fixer upper".

Because I will not have a camaro anymore and I just cant stand being without one. I figure the 4thgen will be better in the snow since I see them all winter long driving round here but few thirdgens although the thirdgens are out more in the summer. But all that aside I just want a camaro that I wont modify as a DD its just a preference

By the way I never brought up insurance or gas milage you guys did!

Well, 4th or 3rd gen is not going to affect your driving in the snow. The wideness of your tires makes that shiate no matter what you do. Its all about the tires. The wider the tires, the better you grip dry, but the shittier you grip wet.

So a six would be better in the snow right (narrower tires and less torque)
my chevelle was better in the snow than my old iroc due to skinnier tires and less torque even though it had a 350 in it.

The tires are going to be the same regardless. The wheel size is the same for a 6 as an 8. But yes, there is less torque and less chance of it letting loose, but its more about how hard you are on that throttle...

camaros suck in the snow (all rear drive cars do) the 4th gen is abetter than the 3rd simply due to weight (4th gen cars are the heaviest)

But the difference is going to be minimal. Like you said, rear wheel drive + wide tires = bad traction in bad weather.
