Sumitomo is far from the cheapest.

But im also not expecting everything out of them. I have another set of tires just for screwing around, and track use.

I was meerly saying, you get what you pay for. So if you get cheap tires, you get cheap results.

Depends on the type of Sumitomos you get. I got the HTR+, which isnt the highest performance, but its the midrange non directional.

I chose Sumitomos not because they were cheap though. But because japanese tires are typically amazing when it comes to quality control. And as are these. They are round as can be, and ride like a dream... for the time being.

im sorry, but anyone who says that sumitomos are a good tire hasnt driven on a real tire. my friend bought 315 sumitomos for his 00 SS to burnup, and thats exactly what hes been doing. 1st and 2nd gear is useless on the street with his 3.73s and bolt ons. hes going to need at least nittos when he puts his cam in, but for now, sumitomos are worthless if you have over 250 horse. they were on my car when i bought it. stock lt1 plus 125 shot of juice and sumitomos = sideways from 60-90 mph.

You best be watchin' your tone there, junior. You talk to your elders with some respect. I've driven on more sets of rubber than times you've gotten to wear a rubber in bed with a lady. [/Old Man James]

The Sumitomos are a good tire. Not a GREAT tire. No one is claiming they're a spectacular performer, especially in comparison to the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup or the BFGoodrich KDs, to name a couple.

However, they are a GOOD tire, and only a good tire. As far as value for money, if you're not rich, the Sumitomo is a respectable solution, especially if you're going to a large size (315 for example).

im not disrespecting you but coming from somone who has had sumitomos on their car and also works for one of the largest tire distributors in the nation, i think i can say the sumitomo is a **** tire. the price barely makes it enough reason to buy it.

I've talked to people who work for the largest distributors of computers & equipment, cellular providers, internet providers, etc... and much of the time, their information is skewed.

Working for != All knowing.

That's all I'm saying.

Plus I saw your age in your profile, and thought it'd be a great reason to break out the "Old Man James" act.

ya everyone knows im young. doesnt mean i dont know a thing or two about some things. dont ask me how to do a derivative in calc or wtf about anthropology. im failing math and senior survey right now, but i know a bit about cars. just a little. u know. and i would agree alot of large companies have misleading information, but i think you'll find discount tire to be quite an exquisite tire company. w/e, sumitomos are cheap and work for a DD but if you have a bit of power and want to go somewhere, plan on being late.

Did you just call Discount Tire an 'exquisite' tire company? Hahahahahahhahahaha. Oh my god. Im seriously laughing.

They are the WORST tire/auto chain ive ever seen. We get more customers from them because they are utterly disgusted with Discount Tire. Most of the employees have NO idea what they are doing. I know some. Discount Tire is the 'Auto Zone' of tire/auto chains.

comon guys lets relax with the harsh language...everyone has their own opinions and lets not bring eachother or cell phone companies into tire selection....picking out out tires for high performance cars is quite the feat...so lets keep the opinions positive and consensive

we all know that pilots and eagle f1's are the top knotch stuff worth eating off of but not all of us can afford $180-$280 a tire....the purpose of this thread was to decide on some tires that are going to ride nice when your with your mom but be able to make the pavement scream with your girl and not spend a left nut for them either...no one here builds up an f-body and drives it like a grandma all the time so lets get some productive comments
