Took My Car into the shop!

$1,400 for fixing failing differential bearings by way of replacing the entire rear end? Are you ******* nuts?
Go to a Transmission/Gear shop, and have them check out your rear end. If they say it's just the bearings, get the bearings changed. You shouldn't be swapping your entire axle assembly for that.

Just to let you know, you are just shy of putting a 12 bolt rear-end under your car for that price. I'm going to give you a little scenario for you. You are about to $1400 for work on a rear-end that shouldn't cost most than $300- yes, labor included. Also, there is probably a good chance that they will screw it up some how so that you will have to go back. And at that point they will charge you again to fix what they screwed up.
I take it your dad is the one who insists on taking it to the dealer to "maintain it's value" instead of going to shop that specializes in tranny's and rear-ends. I would be pissed if I were in your shoes..

dude thats ******* ridiculous. i was quoted 1200 to completely rebuild my entire rear end with a new posi, bearings, axles, blah blah. you would have been way better off getting a 12 bolt

My dad said well its like 100$ an hour labor...And they have to ttake apart the whole rear end and replace parts so thats why its goning to cost so much, but 100$ and hour??? wtf is that?

no but i got a complete rear end with 3.73 gears and absolutely nothing wrong with it for 35 bucks. i installed it myself and put new fluid in it so it cost me a total of 50 bucks.

I'm sorry but this is almost humorous how much they are straight RAPING you for...
I'm going to bet that they will call you back again and say that because the bearings and axle were worn down that it needs new gears which will cost another $300.
P.S.- just to let you know- if your diff bearings were bad enough to make the axle wear down your gears would be shot as well. The tolerance on gears is a way less than that on the amount of play that the axles can take. If the bearings were bad enough that it was causing the axle to actually wear, your gears would have been toast a long time ago. You're getting screwed. If I were you I would demand to see the worn parts when you are done. If they say they can't, its because they more than likely just putting it to you and don't have any worn parts to show you.
I won't remind you that given the first $1400+ $250 you are only another $200 from getting a BRAND-NEW 12 BOLT or even a Moser 60.
