Ways to protect your car in the shop?
Ok the auto and paint/shops are know for taking people's vehicles for joy rides. Of course not all of them are like this but their are for sure some bad apples around here. I was wondering are their any steps one can take to protect their ride from mistreatment? I know when my car goes in the shop my HU/subs/amps are staying at home with me and I'm pulling my fuse for my stereo gear. Second I'm going to use my hypertech and set my rev limitor as low as possible (5500 RPMs). Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions for those of us who do not have the fortune of personally knowing the shop owner?
Thanks

Threaten them with both their lifes and the lives of their children.
No seriously, I always figure if they screw it up, then you'd get hooked up.
You could always just take a pic of your odometer, or stake the place out.

yeah thats a good idea. take the manager out and show him the mileage. then when youre done do the same thing and see what he does.

if they drive your car aka joyride they can lose their licenses (mechanics and business) unless they are supposed to do a road test few body shops need to do that. Be nice and don't worry inspect the car and MILLAGE before dropping it off if it's high ask why you may get a half mile in the shop but not 5 miles

Another thing to do is if you have an aftermarket ignition you can set the RPM really low (3000 rpm) so even if they do take it out they won't have much fun..
With my Accel ignition the settings were on the back so the whole thing would have to be unmounted to get to back of it. I doubt a shop would go thru that much trouble just to drive the car around the block.
Chris- why not just let them joyride your car and when you get there tell them they put the dent in there and get it fixed for free...

Another way to prevent this - wreck the front end. I knwo for a fact that when i have the frame repaired ain't nobody getting to joy-ride Epic - not even me.
