Your right it depends but if it is a daily driver then why not go fuel injected? In a few years the system will literally pay for itself.

fuel injection if tuned properly will 99% of the time make more power than carb, the problem is most carb guys slap it on a try and run, would you do that with a carb?

with the right carb you can get just as good gas mileage as a fuel injected vehicle. this '72 chevelle i drove daily for awhile was carb'd and it got better gas mileage than my '95 4.3 s-10 does now. You dont have to go crazy. he could run a vac. secondary and not use that much gas.

it also depends on the the motor your puttin the fuel injection on. you could have a 400 horse carb'd motor then spend lots of money to put fuel injection on it and...yes, you'll make more power.........BUT, with all the money you spent on fuel injection you could have made that carb'd motor way way badder than the fuel injected ever thought about bein.

comparing 2 completely different types though, an s10 gets lousy millage (rated around 15 new) a carb won't get as good a millage or the factories would have kept them (they are cheaper to produce) but they had federal millage mandates that only injection would do (and tbi is not injection its a glorified carb)

im not talkin about a factory carb. if you use a factory carb on your hotrod you need to be beatin with a hard object.

a quadrajet will actually outperform many aftermarket ones when tuned correctly (that is what the edelbrock was based on originaly)
