Valvoline VR-1 Racing 20w-50 it's a synthitic blend. I've tried a few differant kinds from full synthetic to standard cheap *** oils... for some reason Epic really responds to this stuff.

Wow......20W-50 is some pretty thick stuff there bro! I use to run Kendall 20W-50 in my a few of my race motors, but those were some high compression, high RPM engines that needed that extra weight because of how hot they got. That's awesome that your motor responds so well to it because it's just that much more protection.

Yep, royal purple is some good stuff. It's been tested and shown to free up as high as 9 HP just by running it in your whole car. Although there's no way you can physically feel that small of increase.

They did a test on HorsePower T.V. where they drained all the fluids in a car, (ie. motor, tranny and rearend). After refilling all the fluids with Mobil 1 synthetic, and running it on the dyno again, it freed up 12 HP just from running the Mobil 1.

Now when I say: it freed up 12 HP,.....that doesn't mean they gained 12 HP on the motor, ....it means that it lubricated all the internal moving parts so well, that the power they lost from their crank to the back wheels,......they ended up seeing 12 more HP at the rear wheels.

Hypethetical Example: Say your engine produces 300 HP at the crank. And then lets say you lose 18% of that power through the drivetrain,....you should end up with about 246 RWHP. But by running Mobil 1 Synthetic oil in your motor tranny and rearend, you should end up with more like 258 RWHP. So, your motor still only makes 300 BHP, but your now running 12 more HP "at the rear wheels", just by changing to Mobile 1 oil in your drivetrain.

Add those extra few HP to all the other little things that don't make much of a difference by themselves, like: 160 thermostat, TB Bypass, Descreened MAF, CAI, even the Airfoil, and now all the sudden your making a difference for not very much money. So when you hear people say, "every little bit helps",.....you really need to do ALL those every little bits in order for it to help.

I dynoed the Lt4 after swapping to royal purple. I got about 8 hp more. I wasn't a real believer until my buudy did his 96 z first. I did it to mine and I do not plan on using anything else. The results are great.
