1990 honda accord. trans will go into each gear at a stand still. 30 sec later

there is nothing in all gears? It will go into reverse and drive but after a few secs its like its in all neutral, nothing in all gears. Rev the engine in gear and nothing. Let it sit for a few minutes and it does the same thing all over again. It has fluid. Im trying to see if its something simple or get any ideas to what could be causing this before I replace the trans.
