2003 Honda Accord Check Engine Light On?

2003 Honda Accord Check Engine Light On?
As I was driving all of a sudden the engine sputters and the check engine light comes on. Now everytime the rpms get to about 2,700 to 3,000 rpms the engine would sputter and slightly hesitate. I am afraid to bring the engine above 2,700 rpms.Yeah it won't let me go above 3,000 rpms. And it is a manual transmission.

Is this a manual or automatic transmission? I have a 2003 Honda Accord (automatic transmission) and something similar happened. It was something wrong with the transmission. I had it fixed and haven't had a problem since. Luckily, they didn't have to replace the transmission or it would have been $$$$$$.
