I'm about get a used 01 Honda Accord form a private seller but I just want to make sure that the information is true. Basically the main concern is the mileage, 53k I know is good mileage but the thing is that I know some people can change the odometer to whatever they want (which is illegal) but is difficult to check since is a digital one. There is something that I'm kinda wondering about: we got a carfax report on the car and last time the mileage was recorded was at about 3k miles but the problem is the apparently unnecessary change of the timing belt because supposedly is not necessary to change it until about 60k and the carfax report said it has been changed; the car's odometer is on 53k so why would it be changed early? So I'm thinking, worst case scenario the car actually has more miles than it says it has if the timing belt was changed at 60k+ and the seller illegally changed the odometer. Do you think this might be a sing of a tampered odometer? what do you think about this?
