Transmission woes on the Honda Accord or is it the timing belt ?

My honda accord v6 is approaching 80,000 miles and just got the 1st hint of trouble ever. On lower speeds if I depress the accelerator pedal, sometimes there is a delayed response and then a nasty jerk. I have heard of this problem in the model. What is it? Is it the timing belt? Or is the transmission going? Will have to end up replacing the entire transmission ?

It sounds like the fuel management system, should be simple to correct.
