will an aftermarket remote car starter affect my factory warranty on my 04...
#2
It is possible that it could affect your warranty. When a remote starter is installed they have to cut in to you wiring harnesses & install a new set of relays & ignition interupts. If the installer does not do a good job or the kit they use, is not a good one, then you could have problems. If you have an issue with your car that is CAUSED by those modifications then the manufacturer has the right to void PORTIONS of the warranty. Some dealers might even use it as an excuse say you have completely voided your warranty & to sell you services, most probably would not. But for certain you could have issues. Almost every system in your vehicle is affected by eletronic controls, so the possibilities of issues large.Would I install a remote starter on my vehicle? Yes I have, but I was very picky who I would allow to do it.The guys at circuit city in my area did a good job for me, thry used a Viper kit. There were a couple of occasions that it malfunctioned, but if we dropped it off they would fix it & did not charge me. It seemed a relay would get magnetized & unplugging it for a few minutes would solve the problem.
