Exclamation 1995 Honda Civic SI - value?

Hi all,

I'm new here (just registered today).

Anyhow, about 2 weeks ago I crashed my Civic into a concrete wall (damn black ice!), and I'm dealing with the insurance right now who is offering me $2700 (tax in.) for my car.

1995 Civic SI
329,997 KM
manual transmission
1 week old NEW muffler
and winter tires (with about 3 more winter seasons left on the tread)

So my question is, do you think that is a fair offer?

It just makes me sad that I lost my car this way (my first car and I got it as new!)

That sounds about right. After all it is a 12 year old car with more then 300K on it. You should be happy your getting that price. It could be alot worse.

wow, thanks VWJettaMK2 for the quick response!

Looks like I'll accept their offer then (not like I have a choice, since I tried to get $3000, but they are firm with $2700)

Like I mean most people wont be able to sell a car with 250K for that price, so your getting a pretty good deal. Besides insurence companys are ******. My friend got rear ended and they wrote of his BMW and it took them almost 2 months to even give him a call with a price.

I guess I should consider myself lucky then. It only took them two weeks to give me an offer... I refused their first offer and this was their second offer.

Thanks again.... and sorry about your friend's experience

$2700 seems fair (considering the km's) . Dont worry, be happy.

If you can produce receipts for major repairs that are not classified as normal wear and tear they will pay you for that, ie: transmission, head gasket. Goodluck, i'd try to squeeze for a little more. Worst case see if can take off the exhaust and any other accesories that you can sell on your own.

Well, I took the $2700... but took the winter tires off of it in exchange for the crappy tires that was sitting in storage.

So now I have 4 winter tires to sell! although, I just noticed that one of the tire is damaged from the crash

Anyone looking for winter tires (Nokian Hakkapeliitta, bought in November 2005)? it has treads for another 2-3 winter seasons left.

Please PM me if interested.

Thanks!

civic

$2700 for a 13 year old civic that's wrecked with close to 350,000km sounds like a hell of a deal to me. Mind you most insurance companies would offer a little bit more than it's worth I would assume seeing as once you claim your rate jumps and they make more money in the long run? I'm not sure but $2700 would make me happy for my wrecked eg with a b18b if i decided to claim.
