How much would it cost to replace a timing belt for a 94 honda civic ex?
I'm thinking about buying a used car and it's listed as needing a timing belt soon. Was wondering how much would this cost to replace. As a female I know nothing about cars Thanks.

dont buy it . that might be your first problem that you have to take care off. find a good mechanic and have him check the car if you stillwant to buy it . it would cost you about 250 to 400 to get a new belt put on. but while you are at it replace the waterpump one time becuase it is in the same area.allways a good idea to see if the dealer has any warranty on the car and for how long to make sure that you get your problems fixed in that time period

well a couple of hundred is right but my suggestion being an ex honda certified tech, you will also need to replace the water pump as it is behind the timing belt, dont remember if its run by the timing belt or not. also this would be a good time to replace the belts and hoses. the belts will only cost in parts as they have to removed them to replace the timing belt. try to get a better price knowing this info

To be honest, a 94 Honda? Where are you getting it from? A scrap yard? Just knowing that it needs the timing belt is enough to warn you. You can guarantee that this is the start of many problems, some will be major and expensive to repair. The only reason you are attracted to it is because it's going for £200 to £300. Don't touch it! Save at least £1500 to £2000 and get a decent 2nd hand motor. For £1500 you should get a year 2000. For £2000, you will get at least a year 2000.
