I got a 1996 Integra and want to lower my car. Should I be getting springs or coil overs. Which ones should I get and how much would both of them cost? What else do I need?

Me personally I prefer coilovers since they are adjustable, either way if you just get lowering springs and coilovers sleeves a good set of shocks is a good investment and also a camber kit so you don't have to replace tire almost every month.AS far as price is concerned check the classifieds I'm sure there are plenty of coilovers and springs there, and price will vary.If your looking for new check out http://www..com

I'm not sure about buying used springs though? How long does these usually last? Do people usually buy used springs and shocks???

now you have to determine how serious you want to be with this car and what your plans are for this car. Combinations are usually as follows:

cheap adjustable coil over sleeve on a tokico or equivalent shock
The issue with the cheap coilover sleeves are they are very soft and carry poor characteristics for your suspension. The shock is abused because of the poor quality spring making the shock do all the work rather then one working with one another.

Springs - standard/variable/progressive on tokico or equivalent shock
There are many variables that come into play when trying to select the right spring/shock combo for you vehicle. Things to consider are ride height, quality of performance due to selecting proper spring style and rates. Some poeple will make a combo and be dispointed in the long run and upgrade to a more adjustable full coilover to unlock the real setting for there vehicle. You have some adjustablity with this combo as shock adjustability is avaliabe for certain shocks, but thats not usually the error. The error is usually the spring style or rate and you are limited to your performance at the point. If you do enough research and the car it a potent platform then you can hear poeples first hand experiences with combonatons.

full coilover assembly from PIC, TEIN or other supporting companies
a full coilover setup is the most ideal setup for any car. You are able to adjust the preload of the spring ,adjust ride hieght accordingly, and adjust the shock. You can still select spring rates but there is no form of style to choosee from. Usually with time spend on these setups you can dial your car into the perfect combination to maximize your performance.
Price: most expensive

I have just skimmed the surface and don;t want to get into big deal, but i thought i would shed some light for you. My recommendation is is a dealer for PIC performance and they carry awsome full coilover setups for $1200 take of give. These are the best in my experience with hondas and really make them fun after playing around with them. If you really want to get serious you can log your runs with a g-sensor and make adjustments.

i'd recommend a set of springs coz everytime you change the height on your coil overs, you'll have to get an alignment which is around 100$

this is true, what i had on a previous car is adjust the cars ride height via bottom control arm mount and kept the preload the way i got it. I then got the car aligned and would feel it out for a while and play with shock adjustments and preloads. Once it was comfortable the last alignment was done And i could comapre the alignment print outs.

I'm thinking of getting just the spring and use the stock shocks untill it wears out since I'm going to replace the shocks later anyways.

I'm been hearing about teins and eibach springs. What you guys think about these?

I just purchased a set of Eibach Pro kit springs for a 94 Accord EX-R 2dr. I was wondering what was a good shock combination? Everywhere I've read it seems to be suggested KONI yellows.

Try and find lightly used springs, I found some H&R Race springs for 50 bucks on ebay, guy put them on, went around the block, found it too low, and took em off. They were like new. And I would recomend getting at least 1.8 inches of drop since integras have such a huge wheelgap. I changed the springs 5 times, allways going lower because I never got the look I wanted...

As for shocks, anything better than tokico HP should do the job...

full coilovers are the best when compared to springs or shitty coilovers. you spend more money but your car won't hop like its on chopped springs. i'm riding on tein flex and i would never go back to springs or shitty coilovers.

Some spring/shock combos are actually just as good as coilovers...H&R race springs with koni yellow shocks wil yeld amazing results...the only difference is that the ride height is not ajustable, but then againd, you cant run coilovers in the winter withought risking the adjustment rings to seize because of calcium...so score one up for springs/shock combos :smilie_da

Wouldn't it be the same if your driving in the winter with full coilovers? Do most of your guys drive your integras through the winter?

I'm just worried about driving it in the winter with springs/shock. At least with some adjustable coilover, I can raise it up for the winter.

just get full coil overs i got Tein SS on mine. no i don't drive it in the winter.

Ground controls and koni yellows will cost about the same as a set of omni's, Function Forms or PIC's
