I would go with something bigger,It will die out early with high reving engine like a b16. I am assuming your talking about a stock talon turbo, if so go with a T3.

Of course it will 'hold boost' all the way to 8000rpm. You think you're going to get less boost at 8000 than you will at 5000? It wont 'die out' early, but the output might level off before you want it to.

sounds like a TD05H-12B to me, probally off a Volvo.

those things are useless toss them out while at it, BUT they do spool up real quick, what you can do is combine a 10cm^2 16G cold side to it, Herman at Cherry Turbo has done it before, and it spools up reallllll good.

Do you own a turbocharged car? I think not.

Most stock turbo applications with the stock turbo (internal wastegate) will have the boost drop off a couple psi near redline. At least this is the case in early 90's-80's turbo cars. That or you will get boost creep from using an old turbo that most likely has hair line cracks in the exhaust housing.

You thought wrong. Eagle talon. TSI. Probably a similar turbo that he's asking about. Great boost all the way to 7000rpm.
And when did we start talking about an 80's stock turbo application? He's talking about a b16 that is / is going to be modified to accept what sounds like at least a semi-custom setup.

Real smart there shooter. It is the turbo that is loosing boost (wastegate actually) it has nothing to do with the engine, so yes you are talking about an "80's" turbo application. That turbo is ollllld technology. I gaurantee you a stock 1st gen talon turbo will not hold 18psi from when it hits full boost to redline (6000, 7000, 8000, where ever redline is)

Boost will usually peak and then come down to a stable boost level that the turbo can produce. A small turbo will give you as much boost as abig turbo,to a certain extent, but the difference is in the effeciency of the turbo. A small turbo will spool up fast giving you good power in the bottom end but lacks in the top end, becouse at top end all its giving you is nothing but hot air therefore killing horse power. Thats what a mean when i say " die out early" Not lose boost Pipes

Especially throwing that turbo on a Honda engine. The head will outflow that thing in top end, very big restriction to the engine.

I hope not. A stock talon runs at 10psi not 18. keep talking though, you'll get it eventually.

You just dont get it. The turbo will not hold the same boost as when it reaches its peak all the way till redline, it WILL loose at least 1psi. The turbos are to small and inefficient. 18psi was an example bag.
