Trunk lock not locking/opening

so here is what happend in steps, on my 94 prelude

1. i went to remove my spoiler, i like the cleaner look on ludes

2. accidently opened the trunk without the bolts bolted on and spoiler fell and hit rear window

3. after that, i tried closing the trunk and it wouldnt close/stay down/lock

4. opened up the lock assembly to see that the actual lock wont stay in any position - ie, closed(locked) position or opened (unlocked) position

5. i can move the lock with my fingure and it stays in place untill i close the trunk slowly it opens again, and wont stay in locked position

6. i am crazy at this point and start to cry as i know i cant drive until its fixed

any help is much appreciated, anyone know whats going on? does it just need some lubrication? because when the spoiler fell maybe the wire that carries power to the spoiler light pulled the cables from inside?

thanks a lot

Did you maybe dent the side of the trunk closest to the window, preventing the trunk from closing all the way?

Other than that, only thing i can think of is somehow the lock broke, in which case you can probably buy a new locking assembly and replace the broken one.

I dont own a prelude so i dont know how the trunk latch works, but sometimes on my CRX the hatch release stays pulled up, preventing the hatch from locking. You might want to check to make sure that its actually pressed back down into the lock position and not slightly pulled up.
