Would a K20 kit go good in 92civc?

My friend has a 92civc 4door sadan. And he wants to convert his automatic to stick, what would be a faster engine to put in there, everytime im in the car with him,all kind of cars go up to him wanting to race, his car is stock but automatic, where looking to hook his car up, and keeping it, we don't want to sell it. so yeah were trying to ask people what kind of engine would be better? B16 or K20-K24... he just wants to keep a 4cylinder in his car though.

A B16 swap would be cheaper but you can get more power out of the k20s but its pretty expensive.
