"N"), (94 Honda Civic Ex ) I have a 94 Honda Civic (about 150K miles) and recently the car starts to shake when idle. So, I tried to examine the car in a parking lot. The interesting thing is the shaking is getting worse when I put "D" (with brakes on, not moving) and a little smoother with "N". If push the accelerator pedal over 2500 ~ 3000 rpm (also not moving, with brakes on), it's getting smoother too. The shake is very noticeable.































Although I'm planning to bring my car a mechanic as soon as possible, I like to know some possible causes or any simple test I can do to identify specific causes from many possibilities. Thank you for your valuable advices in advance.

When was the last time the car had a tune up? Spark plugs, wires, filters, etc? A rough idle can sometimes be cleared up with a simple routine maintenance tune-up. If your spark plug electrodes are worn, the most noticable indication will sometimes be a rough idle. If you haven't had any tune-up work done within the last year and if it progressively got worse I'd start there, if it just all of a sudden started shaking then there might be something a little more serious wrong.































There are many different possibilities for this and without any further information I'd hate to even begin to try to narrow it down for you. Good luck
