v-tech in a honda civic?

well two days ago the engine in our car blew up . It's a five speed, and it has a 2.2 v-tech in it . Any way it sounded like a bunch of cans dangling from underneath the car. And we could only go up to 2 rpm's and only go 40 up a hill and it kept shutting offDo you think the whole engine is shot or just something in the engine needs to be replaced.or a 1.6 I do know it's a v-tech .98 honda civic coupe.

to restate the previously stated, its a VTEC, variable timing and exhaust control(i think). last i heard v-tech makes phones and civics never came with anything close to 2.2L worth of displacement. id really like a description of what happened when your engine "blew up". anyways, most of the time when you do blow an engine, its a better idea to replace the engine (i would upgrade to the h22 though) because unless you know how to rebuild an engine and would trust your own work at highway speeds or up, then its not a good idea. rebuilding an engine thats blown its top is usually an expensive undertaking. faces need to be reground, heads need replacings and if you blew a rod or hammered a piston, you have no choice because your block now has a hole in the side or your cylinder bore is deformed. that cant be fixed. what you can do, is go and find a nice b18c or h22a engine to swap in its place. hope that helps
